Inter Milan President Wishes Simone Inzaghi A Happy 49th Birthday Ahead Of Parma Clash: ‘We Want To Gift Him A Great End To The Season’

News

Inter Milan President Beppe Marotta says he hopes the birthday gift for coach Simone Inzaghi is a great end to the season.

Marotta spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, ahead of today’s Serie A match against Parma.

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi turns 49 years of age today.

Somewhat ironically, it is a bit of a sour day for the Nerazzurri coach personally. He is serving a touchline ban, having received a red card during Inter’s match against Udinese last weekend.

Therefore, Inzaghi will be in the stands while his assistant Massimiliano Farris takes charge of the team against Parma today.

Nevertheless, it will be an opportunity for Inzaghi to celebrate his birthday by watching his team take three points.

It will not be easy for Inter to get the win they’re after this evening, however.

And in the meantime, the Nerazzurri also have numerous other matches to think about. Starting with this coming week’s Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Bayern Munich.

Inzaghi knows that his team are still in the running for multiple trophies, including the Serie A title and the Champions League.

Therefore, the gift for the Inter coach could be something truly special.

Inter President Beppe Marotta said that “we’ve already celebrated with him and the team.”

“Our gift to him will certainly be to try and have a great end to the season,” he added.

“Beyond that, I think his only focus is on this match,” Marotta made clear.

Meanwhile, Marotta made clear that it doesn’t make much difference whether Inter play before or after Serie A title rivals Napoli.

“We’ve gotten used to it by now,” he said. “Maybe when you play before, it gives you a bit more freedom mentally.”

“Because the team who plays afterwards are left having to chase.”

“But if a professional is trained for it, he has to live with these particular dynamics,” Marotta said.

“So we have no preference.”

“But we have to deal with the fact that we have eight more matches in the league, the Coppa Italia, and Bayern Munich in the Champions League,” the Inter President said.

“The biggest challenge is playing all these competitions in a short span of time.”

Marotta: “Lautaro Is Doing Well”

And Marotta updated on the fitness of Inter captain Lautaro Martinez. The Argentine starts this evening’s match.

“Mentally, he’s doing very well,” said the Nerazzurri President.

“He’s also a player who’s constantly improving.”

Marotta hailed Martinez, “He’s our captain, and every season he takes on more and more of a winning mentality.”

“Unfortunately, the players who have been playing in a lot of different competitions this season have faced a significant number of injuries, compared with then years ago.”

“Now football involves more pressing, including in the defensive phase.”

“There’s more expenditure of energy.”

“There are challenges, trauma on the body, and a stress on the body that wasn’t there before. Because there are all these matches,” said Marotta.

“It’s hard to get through a season without many injuries.”
