The goal line technology awarded a winning goal to Inter Milan against Monza in Serie A yesterday, but only after a lengthy delay.
This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan had to come back from 0-2 down against Monza yesterday. But they showed both their quality and their spirit to do exactly that.
Inter’s first two goals came courtesy of Marko Arnautovic and Hakan Calhanoglu.
The Austrian powered a header over the line just before halftime. Then, the Turk produced a spectacular long-range effort to draw Inter level.
But the goal that delivered all three points to the Nerazzurri was altogether messier.
Inter Milan Winner Vs Monza Comes After Long Goal Line Technology Check
It was Monza defender Giorgios Kyriakopoulos who was unfortunate to turn the ball into his own net.
Under pressure from Inter captain Lautaro Martinez, the Greek international couldn’t direct the ball out for a corner.

Brianzoli keeper Stefano Turati made a big effort to try and prevent the own goal.
And it did look as though Turati may have been successful. He reached and clawed the ball away from the goal line.
However, the goal line technology did show referee Luca Zufferli that the ball had actually crossed the line. By a matter of millimetres.
The fact that the check took as long as it did, however, showed how close the margins really were.
