Defender Stefan de Vrij is training on his own ahead of Sunday’s Serie A showdown between Atalanta and Inter Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInter1908.
Stefan de Vrij pulled out of the squad for Inter’s Champions League clash with Feyenoord on Tuesday.
Reports had indicated that the former Lazio defender would start the round of sixteen second leg match. However, he felt a problem with his knee in the warmup.
Therefore, de Vrij did not play yesterday. Instead, Francesco Acerbi started in the centre of Inter’s back three.

Naturally, there has been some doubt about whether de Vrij could return for Inter’s next match.
Inter only have one more match to go before the March international break. But it is a huge one.

The Nerazzurri travel to Bergamo to take on Atalanta next Sunday, with that match already feeling like a potential title-decider.
Therefore, Inter will hardly want to deal with too many injuries for such a big match.
Yesterday, Stefan de Vrij underwent tests with the Inter Milan medical staff.
These did show that there is no serious injury for the Dutchman.
Therefore, de Vrij has been able to get right back on the training pitch.
However, the former Lazio and Feyenoord defender is still shaking off his injury. Therefore, it is not yet certain whether or not he will be ready for Sunday’s match.
